Fisherman’s Direct Market in Homer, Alaska

Chugach Wild Salmon

Chugach Wild Salmon

My name is Bob Wolfe and I have been in the local Cook Inlet salmon industry for 45 years. I Captain the F/V Aghileen and gillnet fish for Salmon,
and long-line for Halibut and Cod.

I started processing on the “slime line” and continued on to dock worker, and then fish buyer. From there, I became a deck hand and eventually
bought my boat and permit
.

Now, I have expanded to my shore-based facility in Homer, AK where I catch, process and sell my own fish. We also process a limited amount of Black Cod, Halibut, Pacific Cod and Ling Cod for Direct Market sales.

We sustainably harvest the most premium salmon from Cook Inlet and
white fish from the gulf of Alaska, keeping them fresh with
the highest quality in mind for you.

In Cook Inlet, we fish for Salmon on Monday’s and Thursdays
June, July and August. We then make it quickly back to our
shop in Homer for fresh sales. Salmon stay on salty slush ice so they remain cold and in premium condition. Primarily we head and gut our salmon, filleting and frozen done by request.
Come early for whole fish, in the shop on Tuesdays and Friday’s. We will have headed and gutted the day after they are caught,
and filleting is done by request.

When the salmon run, they all run! Our peak season is
July 10-25th typically, we pack away frozen portions or fillets
but supplies are limited as per what we catch.
We can ship and send out fish when the dust settles in August
for those on our shipping list.

Other fish come into the shop throughout the year depending
on the run, the weather, and when Bob can get out fishing.

We pride ourselves as being one of the only Direct Market Fish sales in Homer, allowing locals and tourists alike to come buy fresh locally caught fish to have for dinner or stock the freezer.
Ask about our shipping options if you live out of state!
